Ledio Braho, a member of KAS, who is monitoring the vote recount process in the Fier District, said that they may file criminal charges against the recount groups that have added votes to the block of votes for the DP candidate, Silva Hasaj, who so far has received 597 undeserved votes.
In an interview with Report TV, Braho emphasized that they will first examine the necessary elements and then see whether to proceed with a criminal report for the case in question. In Tirana, he said, there were no such movements that could be considered criminal.
"The case of the counting group will be seen whether it is the same recounting groups that have made these movements or if they are different. However, when the votes are at such levels, the issue must be looked at more fundamentally. We will definitely do our verifications as much as we can from what comes out of the ballot boxes.
But in order to achieve a result, we need to have the names of the counting group, we need to see the box of election materials. So, there are a number of elements that we will request further information to be carried out through the CEC and depending on it, then there will be an approach whether to proceed with a criminal report or not.
But we must keep in mind that the results table is not something that is confidential information that only the KAS or only the commissioner has. It is public information, the Fier prosecution has all the possibilities to initiate it," said Braho.
Asked why the KAS has not yet made a decision on the Elbasan region, where the DP claims there was a Bulgarian train, Braho stressed that they will review it after they close the recount process. According to him, when the verification of the election materials was carried out, the DP did not request a recount, adding that he does not believe that it will make such a request now, also considering the results of Tirana and Fier.
According to him, there was no push from the parties towards the counters for vote trafficking.
"There is no request so far from the DP. This has been postponed so that we do not suspend the process here because the session for the administrative review of Elbasan will continue at the CEC premises, where we hold meetings. So we have decided to finish Durrës and then hold four sessions for these four districts.
I do not express my vote, because I do not know what claims will be raised in the session. But what I can tell you is that in the last session that took place before the opening of those Elbasan ballot boxes and 96 voting centers was decided, we were clear with the representatives of the DP when we told them, are you sure you want these. Because they were unclear whether they wanted a recount or simply a review of the election material and ballots.
And they were of the opinion that they only wanted a review, and it was done for 96 in the Elbasan voting. So, a finding was made among the ballots found in the box, the unused ballots. There was no request for a recount and I do not believe that there will be a request for a recount after the opening, especially of the Tirana and Fier districts. What we can understand is that at least the electoral subjects did not have an incentive for their counters to traffic the votes. What was done with the candidates in the Fier district and the preferences that the counters may have had for potential candidates in their areas, this remains to be seen to the end", said Braho.
