Ilir Meta, President of the PL, who has been in prison since October 2024 by order of SPAK and a decision of the GJKKO, says that he has never considered fleeing the country, while warning of a return to public life.
In a telephone conversation with MCN TV, Meta said, "I'm not in prison, I'm free. How can I escape from these basins? Why? A person doesn't escape because he defends Albania, Kosovo, the Albanian sea. They have taken away my immunity since I was 22 years old and they wanted to arrest me. How can I escape from my country?!"
Asked if he will return to public life, Meta said:
"It is indisputable. It is a matter of patience, it is a battle won, we have the truth with us. They have many means, the incinerator money is also distributed in the media, the PPP money... But we have the truth. I belong to that generation that participated in the greatest overthrow, which was unthinkable in Albania, that of December."
Meta added: "I don't get this from Rama either. Rama is a blind tool that they use. They have always found people with problems, who can be blackmailed."
"These people are mean even to their friends, as they did to Erion Veliaj. They can't do these things to me. McGonigal trained them, and that case will be reopened. Bob trained me, Bob is high-level. These people don't bring people in to create evidence, with provocateurs, with some illegal action," said Meta.
