We will make history with Albania's membership in the EU within this decade. This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama said in the speech he gave at the Brigades Palace in Tirana, where he gathered the candidates for MPs and officials of the Socialist Party, in a celebration of the victory in the May 11 elections.
Rama said that for the Socialist Party, the goal is not the party itself or victory in the elections, but the historical mission that it has to fulfill in the service of the country.
He emphasized that victories should not be used to defeat opponents, but to realize national aspirations, among which he included Albania's membership in the European Union within this decade.
"The party is not a goal, but a means to fight for goals. Nor is victory in elections a goal in itself, but to achieve goals you have to win elections."
"We don't need victories to defeat others, this is not a sport even though it is very similar to sport. We need victories to fulfill the historical mission we have, to change Albania, to develop the economy, to guarantee justice, improve education and healthcare, strengthen security, to increase the international reputation of our homeland and to make history with EU membership within this decade," said Rama.
