One of the speeches that attracted the most attention during the 50th civic protest was that of a protester, who stated that the participants have no intention of retreating and that they will continue their resistance until their demands are met.
In her speech, she opposed the labels that, according to her, have been made of protesters during these weeks, emphasizing that there are citizens in the square protesting for Albania.
"They called us Russians, Serbs, Greeks and traitors, but in these 50 days they have not understood that there are only honest and revolted Albanians here. They tried to delegitimize us, but they did not succeed," said the protester.
The activist listed some of the reasons why the protest will not stop, stating that the departure from the square will only come when citizens see concrete improvements in various areas.
"They ask us when we will leave the square. We will leave when there are medicines in hospitals and citizens are not forced to buy them themselves. When children are safe in schools and teachers are not used for political interests. When our fathers, construction workers, do not lose their lives in the workplace without anyone being held responsible. When livestock farmers are not forced to throw away their products," she said.
Sidorela Vatnikaj also focused on the emigration of young people, demanding that they have the opportunity to build a life in their own country.
"We will leave when young people finish school with the belief that they will work in Albania and not think of leaving as the only solution," said the protester.
At the end of her speech, the activist emphasized that the protest is not organized for personal interests, but for dignity and for a different future.
"We are not here for personal interests, for power or for followers on social networks. We are here to say that we no longer negotiate our dignity and the dream of a new, free and democratic Albania. You can no longer blackmail us. We are here to tell you: We will not leave without you leaving," she concluded.
