Rama announces government changes on Friday? Gathers MPs and ministers at the
Socialist group

After over 50 days of protests in Tirana, the Prime Minister calls the Socialists to the Brigades Palace, as rumors have increased that there will be a government reform...

Prime Minister Edi Rama has begun to move as citizens have been protesting in the streets of Tirana for more than 50 days.

Following the call by the head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, for socialist deputies not to leave Tirana until July 27, another move from the ranks of the majority has added to the question marks over what is expected to happen in the coming days.

Rama has called a joint meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group and the government cabinet at the Brigades Palace for Friday. The meeting will start at 09:30 and will take place just one day after the Assembly officially closes its parliamentary session.

If it is related to Balla's message that MPs not leave Tirana, suspicions are growing that the prime minister may be preparing changes in the government. The possibility that an extraordinary parliamentary session will be called next week to vote on new names for the cabinet is not ruled out.

"Pamphlet" warned earlier that Rama could announce changes to the government this weekend, and it seems that the date has been made official.

A few days ago, Taulant Balla had asked the majority MPs to remain on standby until July 27, without giving an official explanation for this request. Within the Socialist Party, there has been talk of the possibility of approving draft laws related to the European integration process, but in parallel, rumors have also circulated about a government reshuffle and changes in important positions.

Another development has been added to this political panorama. Elisa Spiropali has presented a motion to open the debate on the document called "The New Deal for Albania", which contains a critical analysis of the functioning of the governing majority.

The document acknowledges that "for weeks, a civic energy has been emerging on the streets of Tirana that cannot be ignored without consequences," while emphasizing that "the governing majority should not see this as a noise that should be suppressed and ignored, but as a moment of reflection for Albanian democracy."

It further talks about the need for more democracy, more representation, less concentration of decision-making, the separation of party from state, the end of privileges and the return of meritocracy. The document also uses the phrase: "More humility, less arrogance", a message that has been interpreted as a self-criticism about the way of governance.

Even Taulant Balla, a few days ago, had hinted that the Socialist Party was preparing for a phase of reflection. "Soon the time will come for dialogue with those who had their legitimate reasons to protest. From concerns about nature to anger towards those who abuse the trust in the seat of power, our listening and reflection," he declared.

So according to the signals, Rama will reform the cabinet on Friday, to then go on vacation with a new government. This is a move under the pressure of the protests, but will he be able to stop them? /Pamphlet
