The Co-Chair of the Territorial Reform Commission, Luciano Boçi, asked the majority to withdraw from the report drafted only by its representatives, which also proposes reducing the number of municipalities.
From the Parliament's rostrum, Boçi declared that the opposition is requesting an extension of the Commission's work deadlines, arguing that the approved calendar has not yet been implemented and that the public consultation process has not been completed.
According to him, the Commission is still in the first phase of hearings in the regions, while he criticized the majority for presenting a report without completing the foreseen procedures and without full consultation.
"The left continued the meeting. Whose Assembly is it? The meeting is adjourned, the channels have been made available to present this report. The committee has a procedure and is determined by a draft calendar and it is not up to us to decide as we please. This draft calendar is the official document that is binding on the speaker of the assembly, it is binding on the committee as well.
We are as a committee at point 4, the first round of consultations and public hearings in 12 counties that have not ended. Who are you asking about this proposal? Did you ask your deputies? No one knows what will happen to the territory they represent. What you are doing is shameful. You talk about Librazhdi and Përrenjas being merged. Where was it dictated, where was it approved, in which committee. Give up that report because it has no legal value," said Boçi.
