A large-scale fire engulfed a forest area between the villages of Andon Poçi and Hundëkuq, in Gjirokaster, this evening, mobilizing all firefighting forces.
According to preliminary information, the alarm was given at around 21:09, while two fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the scene along with Fire Protection and Rescue personnel.
Initial reports indicate that the fire has two active foci, spread across two different hills. The rugged terrain and lack of access by vehicles have made it difficult for firefighters to intervene near the flames.
Due to the large size of the fire, the entire MZSH staff has been engaged, working to isolate and extinguish the flames, in order to prevent them from spreading towards the villages of Andon Poçi and Hundëkuq.
So far, the causes of the fire have not yet been revealed.
