Votes from the diaspora, especially from Greece, are creating a new wave of political tension, while the Socialist Party has significantly deepened its advantage over the Democratic Party. According to the latest data, the SP has received over 47 thousand more votes from abroad, significantly strengthening its positions in the national confrontation.
In the Lezha district, where the DP had four mandates and the SP three, the result has been called into question after the counting of Greek votes. The gap is narrowing significantly, which has prompted the DP to request a recount and publicly contest the validity of the votes from the diaspora.
DP officials have stated that they will demand that the votes from Greece not be included in the final result, accusing them of irregularities and manipulation. Meanwhile, the counting of these votes only began on Saturday morning, following a decision by the chief commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, after the boxes had remained blocked for days due to the DP's claims.
The coalition "Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet" continues to be ranked third, while other parties have received a symbolic share of the vote. So far, 162,788 envelopes out of a total of 195,007 have been counted, and political tension seems set to increase as the end of the process approaches.
