The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, at a press conference from the Olympic Park where the Diaspora votes are being counted, said that only 9 boxes of envelopes from abroad are irregular. Celibashi added that 7 of them were declared invalid at the moment of delivery, while the other 2 were contested by the CEAZ after receiving the boxes upon delivery.
He stated that the national vote count resulted in 109 more ballots than the number of citizens who voted.
Celibashi also said that the vote counting process from Greece is expected to be completed today, while the counting of votes for the candidates will then begin.
"There are 1,462,352 ballots found in the box, there are 1,462,461 voter counts recorded in the minutes that the polling center commissioners have compiled, there is a difference of 109 sheets between them. Between the number of voters and the number of ballots. We are verifying where the error is throughout the territory. It is of those who have closed the minutes or of those of the counters when they have entered the data.
Of the 1,462,352 ballots found in the boxes, 1,460,833 are valid votes and 55,519 are invalid. There are only 9 irregular boxes that resulted from the evaluation process, 7 of which were declared as such at the moment of delivery, while 2 were contested as such by the CEAZ after receiving the boxes in delivery. From the votes of the diaspora, so far 159,921 votes are valid, while 1,666 votes are invalid so far. We are in the process of reviewing the envelopes received from Greece, I believe I will finish today and then there will be a vote count for the candidates ," said Celibashi.
