At the same time as the plenary session begins, a protest has been announced in front of the Parliament building.
The Albanian Parliament meets today, June 30, in a plenary session, which will start at 10:00.
According to the agenda, the deputies will first approve the minutes of the previous session and will continue with the announcements, while the main point of the session is the review of the draft law "On official controls and other official activities", which aims to guarantee the implementation of legislation on food, animal feed, animal health and welfare, as well as the protection of plant health and products for their protection.
Next, the Assembly will consider a series of draft resolutions to assess the activity of independent institutions for 2025. Among them are the Commissioner for Civil Service Supervision, the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection, the Department of Public Administration, the Competition Authority, the Public Procurement Commission, the Authority for Information on Former State Security Documents, the Institute for Studies on Crimes and Consequences of Communism, and the Deposit Insurance Agency.
At the end of the session, discussions on issues outside the agenda are planned.
Meanwhile, at the same time as the start of the plenary session, a protest has been announced in front of the Parliament building, under the slogan "Change starts with us, it's time to wake up."
The protest was announced by the organizers of the nightly rallies, which are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. They have announced that the protest action will continue in the evening, at 7:00 PM, with citizens gathering in "Skënderbej" Square and marching towards the Prime Minister's Office building.
Authorities are expected to take measures to guarantee public order and smooth traffic flow in the area around Parliament and on the axes where the protests will take place.
