Security expert Ilir Kulla has stated that, according to him, any development that could affect the political future of Prime Minister Edi Rama will not come from protests, but from law enforcement institutions.
Invited to the show "Të Pashoj", Kulla stated that the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) and the investigative materials received from international partners constitute, according to him, the biggest "time mine" for the government.
According to him, the protests have brought public attention back to the work of justice institutions, while emphasizing that international perception of issues related to corruption, money laundering and organized crime in Albania has become increasingly critical.
Kulla stated that the challenge is not only related to the political future of the prime minister, but also to the credibility of the entire political class. The security expert added that, in his assessment, international partners have not asked the prime minister to resign, but rather to implement reforms and the normal functioning of institutions.
"Look, if there is one thing that, if there is a real time mine against the prime minister and the analysis of the separate protest... they will come from the institutions. From the Special Prosecution. Ok? And the problem is that all these sensitive materials that come out of the wiretaps, we have seen that the road file came from abroad. Sky ECC came from abroad, Matrix came from abroad. So all of these, all of these came from the West. From the Netherlands, Belgium, France and all of these countries. So, if there are really time mines, or mines that are not distinguishable and unexplored, they will come from the law enforcement institutions. The fact that those people came out there and they woke up, this makes the law enforcement institutions also have their attention with them, that is, that at a certain moment it seems like people were completely indifferent. So I don't know if you remember from February, the Americans also extracted the time in which Albania would have to undertake x reforms and others. The fact that from the wiretaps It turns out that the issue of public and private construction, of scandals one after another, of money laundering, of cocaine on a global level, shows that the perception of the system in Albania has such pejorative tones, that it is not a matter of whether the prime minister survives or not. The matter is whether the political class survives or not. All of us as a ruling class. That there will come a moment... after a long process has taken place, that I don't know how long it will last, six months, a year, two, here we will be.
There will come a moment when history and time will judge us for what we have said and what we have done, even those of us who have only been able to talk. So I think that no one from the international community has asked the prime minister to leave. They have asked him to do his job. It is not possible that a country in the European Union, a candidate for the European Union, has changed the general director of the police almost every year in 13 years. It shows that there is something that is not working, right? And it is not possible that in every important arrest of the Special Prosecutor's Office and the court, or other district prosecutor's offices, senior state police officials appear. It shows that you have a big problem. It is not possible that in every important approved project, private or not private, from wiretaps, that is, from court documents, not from me or you, it turns out that there is at least one gang involved and large amounts of money, cocaine, were introduced ," said Kulla.
