As citizen protests continue and critical voices against the government are increasing, Edi Rama is facing another reaction from the ranks of the old guard of the Socialist Party.
After a number of historical figures of the left who have expressed support for the protest or criticized the government, former socialist MP Piro Lutaj has also reacted today.
Through a post on social media, Lutaj condemned the public lynching of activist Dritan Goxhaj after his participation in anti-government protests, calling the connection being made between the right to protest and someone's involvement in the KLA meaningless.
" Dear friends! Please, can someone explain to me what connection the situations or protests in Albania today, after almost 30 years, could have with someone's involvement or not in the active formations of the KLA? Well, my dears, is there really anyone in Albania who would believe and refer to the perversity of some "old man" or our Taho?
The posting and prejudice of a list of names of fighters, at the top of which stands Tahir Sinani, one of the icons of the KLA, hero of three wars for the liberation of Albanian lands, whose statues illuminate the place between Prizren and the capital of the Gjakova Highlands, the city of Bajram Curri, have left me speechless! I personally, on this issue, join the post made yesterday by General Fatmir Limaj! Freedom has a name , "he writes.
Piro Lutaj's reaction adds to the list of well-known figures of the Socialist Party who have distanced themselves from the line followed by Prime Minister Edi Rama in recent days. Former minister Ditmir Bushati, former minister Arta Dade, FRESSH founder Ilir Zela, former minister Ermelinda Meksi, Ndre Legisi and Arben Malaj have previously reacted, expressing criticism of the government and support for the citizen protest.
