Shkruar nga PamfletiThe Albanian Prime Minister participated in the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, where he emphasized that the recovery process must go in parallel with the defense of the country and linked it to the European future of the Western Balkans.
Prime Minister Edi Rama participated this Thursday in the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026), which brought together heads of state and government, representatives of international financial institutions, business and civil society organizations from different countries around the world.
In his speech, Rama emphasized that the reconstruction of Ukraine cannot be postponed until the end of the war, as delay would have consequences for the future of the country.
"If reconstruction waits until the last bullet is fired, then it will already be too late. And that is precisely why we are here today. Meanwhile, Ukraine is rebuilding, while at the same time defending itself. This is the great meaning of this conference. Albania is here with a very simple conviction: Ukraine must secure peace with the same determination with which it is defending its freedom," Rama said.
The Prime Minister also assessed that the reconstruction process of Ukraine and the European integration of the Western Balkan countries are closely linked and positively influence each other.
“On the other hand, we see the reconstruction of Ukraine and the European integration of the Western Balkans as mutually reinforcing processes. Both are about completing Europe, strengthening its resilience and reducing strategic vulnerabilities. Of course, reconstruction is not charity, but strategy. It is not just about repairing what has been destroyed, but about building a democratic, European, modern and sustainable Ukraine, showing that all of Europe is capable of doing this. And, in conclusion of this short speech, which I am convinced that you will appreciate, Ukraine is rebuilding the courage of Europe. Europe must help rebuild the future of Ukraine”, said Rama.
The Conference on Reconstruction of Ukraine aims to strengthen international support for the country and mobilize investment for the reconstruction process and its long-term development. During the proceedings, participants will focus on the sectors that have suffered the most damage from Russian aggression, including energy, critical infrastructure and logistics.
At the same time, a significant part of the discussions will be devoted to strengthening Ukraine's security and defense capacities, which are considered key elements for ensuring a sustainable reconstruction and development process in the coming years.
