On the 51st day of the protest against the government, one of the citizens who took the floor in the square declared that the protest is not only aimed at the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, but at a transformation of the political system in the country.
"Today we demand a very simple thing, the removal of a corrupt government and a corrupt prime minister. But it is not just about changing a person. It is about changing a system, for a new Albania and a new Constitution ," he said.
The protester claimed that Prime Minister Edi Rama bears responsibility for the political situation in the country, stating that the team with which he came to power is today under investigation.
"When he came to power, he promised a team, but today that team is all under investigation. He is the architect and the man who organized everything in this country," the protester said.
During his speech, the citizen emphasized that the protesters are not simply demanding the replacement of one political leader with another, but a complete reform of the system.
"We don't want to simply remove one autocrat to install another. We want fundamental political change, a new democratic order, and for citizens to elect their own representatives," he declared.
The protester also repeated the call "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison", arguing that, in his opinion, change must include the entire political class. At the end of his speech, he called on MPs to join the protest.
"Have you seen the people's representatives? They are not held accountable. Those MPs who remain should join us and put their mandates in the service of this protest, because this is the will of the citizens," the protester said.
The protest against the government has been ongoing for 51 days, while organizers have announced that the rallies will continue in the coming days.
