The leader of the Mundësia Party, Agron Shehaj, has reacted after the statement of an MEP, according to whom the authorities are following the trail of money allegedly taken out on behalf of Edi Rama outside Albania through his family members.
Shehaj published the statement of the European People's Party (EPP) MEP Tomáš Zdechovský, who states: "We know that he really used his family to take money out of the country, and we are also following the money trail."
According to Shehaj, if this statement turns out to be true, then Prime Minister Edi Rama is transferring assets abroad and may be preparing his departure from Albania.
He stressed that any illegally obtained wealth must be traced and that no one can escape justice by fleeing the country.
" If this statement is true, Edi Rama is preparing his escape outside Albania and is taking with him the money he has stolen from Albanian citizens. But this is not going to happen. Wherever Edi Rama goes, he will never enjoy the money he has stolen from Albanians, the money he has stolen from the poorest people in Europe. He will be brought to justice! It doesn't matter where he goes, it doesn't matter how much money he takes with him ," declared Shehaj.
