The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, in a statement to the media, gave the reasons why the majority did not accept the Democrats' request for a motion with debate in the Assembly.
According to him, the Socialist Party does not recognize the Democratic Party as a representative of the protest, while the request submitted by the opposition is considered built on claims that do not represent this civic movement.
"We do not recognize the DP party as the representative party of the protest. Whoever the organizers are, since they have their turn in the afternoon to speak in response, even if the DP party has a mandate or not. As soon as a written request arrives at the assembly from the protesters, I will respond to them. The DP was asking on behalf of the protesters, 1, 2, 3, 4 things, that's how the request for a motion with debate was constructed," he said.
Balla's statement comes in a tense political climate between the majority and the opposition, where the issue of protests and the manner of their representation in the Assembly has been one of the main points of the parliamentary debate.
The leader of the socialist parliamentary group also challenged the DP to bring a no-confidence motion against the government and bring forward its candidate for prime minister.
"It is not requested with a motion with debate, it is requested with a motion of no confidence. Gather 28 deputies, bring the request for a motion of no confidence, with the constitutional amendments of 2008, you must also bring the candidate for prime minister, you can bring Saliu as the candidate for prime minister. Gather 28 signatures, choose the candidate if you have the guts, and let's take it into consideration. But you can't confuse, requesting a motion with debate, requesting the resignation of the government, that's another article", said Balla.
