This Thursday's plenary session was accompanied by tensions and calls from opposition MPs, who demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
While the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, was speaking on the floor of the Parliament, the deputies of the Democratic Party began to shout in unison: "Rama, resign!" , bringing to the Parliament hall the slogan that was also heard during the recent citizen protests.
The opposition's calls were made in the absence of Prime Minister Rama, while a tense atmosphere prevailed in the hall.
During his intervention, Manja mocked the opposition and challenged it to openly join the protesters.
"I have heard since 10:00 my colleagues, the MPs of the other opposition who are claiming here in the hall and I don't know why they are shouting. You have all said one thing, you are asking this wing to 'lower your head; apologize; go away', are you the opposition or the protest? If you are the opposition, you are the opposition, the protest is in the square and from what I have seen, the protest says far away from the parties. You get out, stay on the sidelines with the idea that you will be let in. This wing here has no reason to lower its head. The Socialist Party and we with our colleagues have done so much good work," said Manja.
The minister also added that Edi Rama will not leave office and will continue to lead the government until the next parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, opposition MPs continued to accuse the government of its governance, corruption, and the economic situation in the country, linking their stance to the demands of protesters who have been demanding the resignation of the prime minister and government for days.
