The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, reacted from the Parliament's rostrum regarding the citizens' protest, which has taken on large proportions.
Berisha stated that Parliament must provide immediate responses to the demands of the protesters, especially the young people who have been peacefully protesting for 12 days.
The leading democrat said that their demands are fair and that the goal of the protest is to "save Albania" from a government that, according to him, treats the country as personal property.
The democratic leader requested that the Assembly not deal with other issues, but place only the protesters' demands at the center of the agenda.
He also called for an urgent motion with debate with Rama, and warned that not listening to the voice of citizens would be a grave historical mistake.
"Today, Albanians in Albania and around the world expect from this Parliament an immediate response to the demands of hundreds of thousands of young people who have been in an epic peaceful protest for 12 days with just demands that aim to save Albania from a man who considers the decision his property.
The young Albanians in protest are 100 percent sincere, they demand that they make Albania their dream. Let's not deal with anything other than fulfilling their demands. I urgently request a motion with debate with their leader and that only the demands of the protesters be on the Assembly agenda.
"Listening to their voice is an absolute necessity, otherwise it will be too late and it will be a big historical mistake to make. Distance yourself from Rama and change the agenda of Parliament," said Berisha.
