Arda Kurtulan continues to be in the spotlight in Turkish football. The Göztepe defender is being pursued by Fenerbahçe, but his situation seems to be getting complicated due to the choice of the national team he will represent in the future.
According to Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun, Kurtulan has the right to choose between Albania and North Macedonia on the international stage. However, his transfer to Fenerbahçe could be closely linked to the decision to represent Turkey.
" Arda Okan Kurtulan has the right to choose between two national teams, Albania and North Macedonia. For him to be transferred to Fenerbahçe, he must provide a guarantee that he will play for the Turkish national team. Otherwise, he will be counted in the quota of foreign players ," said Suzgun.
This is not the first time that the national team issue has affected the career of the footballer of Albanian origin. Previously, Kurtulan had rejected an invitation from the Albanian National Team, as such a decision could classify him as a foreign player in the Turkish championship, jeopardizing his chances at the club.
According to reports, the same situation is being repeated now. Turkish clubs are taking advantage of his status as a domestic player, while another selection at the national team level could affect this position.
A transfer outside of Turkey would free Kurtulani from these restrictions and pave the way for a possible call-up to the Albanian national team.
