The Ukrainian president warns that Kiev will take action if Belarus does not remove military equipment near the border with Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko to withdraw military equipment stationed near the border with Ukraine, setting a one-week deadline for implementing the request.
In a public statement, Zelensky said he did not consider Lukashenko's comments a problem, but expressed concern about the presence of military equipment that, according to him, is used to coordinate or direct attacks on Ukrainian territory.
"I am not offended by Lukashenko's words, but along the border with Ukraine there are devices that regulate fire towards Ukraine. I am giving them a week to withdraw; otherwise, we will act ourselves," Zelensky declared.
The statement comes at a time of ongoing tensions between Kiev and Minsk, as Ukraine continues to closely monitor military activity along its northern borders.
