The prosecution has changed the qualification of the case of Eglant Koçi's disappearance, registering it as a murder. Meanwhile, Armand Shakaj, whose name has come up during the investigations conducted so far, has been declared wanted for this incident.
Sources close to the judicial process indicate that during the hearing for determining the security measure, the prosecutor stated that Shakaj was questioned by the Tirana Police only two days after Koç's family members reported his disappearance.
During his testimony before investigators, Shakaj stated that he had known Eglant Koçi for a long time, explaining that the latter's mother had previously worked as a sanitation worker.
"I have known Eglant Koç for a long time, as his mother previously worked as a sanitation worker," he is reported to have stated.
According to sources, the suspect appeared concerned about Koç's fate and claimed that the last meeting between them had taken place on June 3, the day before the young man lost contact with his family.
"He told me last month (May) that there were concerns and threats related to the activity of call centers, but I don't know more, as he didn't tell me anything else ," Shakaj stated during questioning.
Initially, after his testimony, he was released. However, subsequent developments in the investigation and analysis of security camera footage from the bar he manages near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have led to his name being included in the list of wanted persons.
Investigations to fully uncover the fate of Eglant Koçi continue, while authorities are working to locate Armand Shakaj and clarify the circumstances of the incident.
