New footage obtained from security cameras has shed more light on the circumstances of the disappearance of 34-year-old Eglant Koçi, who has been missing since June 6 in the 5 Maji area of Tirana.
A day ago, the last photo of Eglant Koçi, captured by security cameras, was published. According to the Serious Crimes investigators at the Tirana Police, one of the main leads in the investigation is related to a quantity of digital money that the 34-year-old is suspected of possessing on his mobile phone.
Police have identified Armand Shakaj, 41, as the suspected perpetrator of the kidnapping, who is suspected of holding Koçi hostage. Investigators are verifying whether he acted alone or in collaboration with other people.
The investigative actions have made it possible to find the 34-year-old's motorcycle, as well as identify the environment where he is suspected of having last entered. According to the evidence collected so far, only the suspect has left this environment, while there are suspicions that he may have subsequently transported Koçi by vehicle.
Police have conducted numerous searches in the area where the 34-year-old is suspected of being held hostage, as well as in other areas, but so far it has not been possible to find him.
As part of the investigation, Enea Zyferi, 25 years old, was also arrested, suspected of the criminal offense of "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime", as he is suspected of having helped Armand Shakaj after the incident.
Meanwhile, the vehicle suspected of being used to transport Eglant Koç has been found and seized by the authorities as material evidence, while investigations to fully unravel the incident continue.
