The 25-year-old, who worked as a waiter at the bar owned by Armand Shakaj, a wanted person, denied any involvement in the incident and stated that he has no knowledge of Koç's fate.
"Armand Shakaj asked me to turn off the lights. He told me he would bring out a refrigerator. I have no knowledge of the fate of Eglant Koçi." This was Enea Zyferi's statement at the Tirana Court, where he was sentenced to "prison arrest" on charges of supporting the perpetrator of the crime, in connection with the disappearance of 34-year-old Eglant Koçi.
The 25-year-old, who worked as a waiter at the bar owned by Armand Shakaj, a wanted person, denied any involvement in the incident and stated that he has no knowledge of Koç's fate.
During his testimony, Zyferi said he knew Eglant Koçi from working at Shakaj's bar and that he had seen him enter the business premises. He added that Shakaj then asked him to turn off the lights, telling him he was going to get a refrigerator from the bar.
The waiter also stated that Shakaj had asked him to take the car to the car wash to clean it, a task which, according to him, he had accomplished by taking the vehicle to an area at the end of New Boulevard.
Although he denied knowledge of the kidnapping and fate of the 34-year-old, the court decided to leave him in custody, while investigations into the incident continue.
According to the investigation team's suspicions, Eglant Koçi was summoned by Armand Shakaj to a location near the "Ismail Qemali" school, opposite the General Directorate of the State Police. Investigators suspect that he was held hostage there and then killed.
Investigations have revealed that, despite the power outage, security cameras have recorded movements that are suspected to be related to the removal of Koç's body and its transportation by vehicle. The suspicion is that the body then disappeared in a deep area of Librazhd.
Investigators also believe that actions were taken to hide the traces of the crime. According to them, Koç's motorbike was taken to the 5 Maji area to divert the investigation, while the premises of the bar and the vehicle were cleaned.
Suspicions of murder have also been strengthened by the discovery of traces of blood in the environment where Koçi was allegedly held hostage, as well as in the vehicle used by the suspect.
Armand Shakaj is wanted by police for the alleged kidnapping and murder of a 34-year-old man. According to preliminary investigations, the motive for the crime is related to possible conflicts over cryptocurrency wallets.
How the incident happened:
The family reported Eglant Koçi missing on June 4, stating that they had lost all contact with him for two days. Today, more than a week has passed without any information on the 34-year-old's whereabouts.
According to family members, Koçi had no known conflicts or problems that could explain his departure. However, the investigation has taken a different direction after suspicions that he may have been kidnapped.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that the 34-year-old worked as a courier for cryptocurrency exchanges, transporting cash after converting digital assets. This detail is being verified by the investigation team to understand if it is related to his disappearance.
The Police and the Prosecution continue their search to find Eglant Koç and fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
