Reni Dobra's murder, Petrit Çakri arrested; other perpetrator caught

Preliminary examination showed that 23-year-old Dobra died from strangulation with a rope...

Renis Dobra, 23 years old, was executed a few days ago, while his body was found in Shkopet Lake on July 8.

Several suspicions and leads were raised regarding the crime, and in the early hours of Wednesday morning, two people were arrested.

They are Petrit Çakri, a name known to law enforcement agencies, and Fatjon Bushgjoka. Çakri was arrested in Lekbibaj, Tropoja, while Bushgjoka was arrested in Tirana.

Meanwhile, two other people, Kristi Bushgjokaj and Aleksander Bushgjokaj, have been declared wanted.

Çakri is suspected of having rented two cars, which were used in the crime. According to reports, he was discovered by the vehicles' GPS, from where investigators were able to discover other details related to the movements, which also coincide with those of the victim Renis Dobra. In this way, it seems that the investigative group has raised suspicions regarding the fact that the alleged perpetrators followed the victim until his elimination.

After the serious incident, the Mati Police escorted four people as suspects in the murder of the 23-year-old. But after questioning, they were released, thus eliminating the possibility that the crime could have been committed due to a momentary conflict or for weak motives.

Preliminary expertise showed that 23-year-old Dobra died from strangulation with a rope.

The police focused their investigations on several leads, such as conflicts the young man may have had, both inside and outside Albania.

According to sources, in Germany, from where he was deported a few months earlier, he was involved as a drug distributor. It is suspected that he was recently continuing this activity in his home city.

The police were called by the 23-year-old's family. Initially, it was suspected that the young man, who was driving a vehicle, had been stopped by the police, but it later turned out that the kidnappers were not police officers. After several hours of searching, the body was found in Lake Shkopet.

Who is Petrit Çakri?

Petrit Çakri is a well-known name to law enforcement agencies. His name also came to the fore as a witness in the assassination of Azem Hajdari on September 12, 1998, which was considered the 'crime of the century'.

" I was sitting just 4 meters away from the event, in the bar then called "Hanover" which was located next to the former Drini Hotel. I saw Azem Hajdari come out wearing a white overcoat and behind him his bodyguards Zenel Neza and Besim Cerja. After he approached where I was sitting, I saw Izet Haxhia moving towards him in a meeting.

They met and exchanged a few words. Meanwhile, I saw the doors of the cars that were parked nearby open and the "Tropojë Cubans" came out, Fatmir Haklaj, Jaho Salihi and the crook Naim Cangu, whom they had a friend and who was waiting for him in Bajram Curri as if he were Berlusconi. Everything did not last more than 2 minutes. A fight broke out and weapons were fired.

"I was one of the first to approach the lifeless bodies. I turned them over and saw if anyone was alive and needed help. At this moment Sali Lusha arrived. We took everyone to the hospital ," Cakri would say at the time, as one of the witnesses in the trial for the murder of Hajdar.

But Çakr's name also appears in the justice records for fraud, theft, armed clashes with the police, and he is most recently suspected of being one of the perpetrators of the murder of the 23-year-old.
