A 26-year-old Albanian man has been arrested by Italian police. The young man is said to have attacked Carabinieri officers in the Lazio area of Rome during a routine check, following suspicions they had raised regarding the car in which the Albanian and a friend were traveling.
Carabinieri officers from the local unit stopped a car on Via Pontina Vecchia carrying two young Albanians. Upon seeing the patrol, they threw a package containing cocaine out the window.
The Carabinieri found 15 vacuum-packed packets of cocaine and a large sum of money. Suspicions led officers to search the home of one of the young men, a 26-year-old already known to law enforcement.
There, the young man suddenly reacted violently, trying to escape and attacking the carabinieri officers. Around 1 kg of pure cocaine was found in the house, as well as 36,000 euros in cash and 10 kilograms of fireworks.
