Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, has reacted after the protest held on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, describing it as an important political and civic moment against the government.
Through a post on social media, Tabaku stated that the massive participation showed citizens' dissatisfaction with the way of governance and the model that has produced inequality, corruption, and privileges for a minority.
"Yesterday, Albania poured onto the 'Martyrs of the Nation' Boulevard, proving that the moral legitimacy of this majority and the arrogance of this government have entered their final phase," Tabaku wrote.
According to her, the protest represented not only the political opposition, but citizens from different social categories who feel unrepresented by the current system.
"Yesterday, there was not a party in the square. Yesterday, there was Albania in the square ," said the Democratic MP.
In her reaction, Tabaku mentioned young people seeking to build a life in the country, pensioners facing economic difficulties, and the middle class that bears the greatest fiscal burden without benefiting from the services it deserves.
She also accused the government of trying to delegitimize the protesters after the rally ended.
"The digital billboards of dacibao began to display the names, biographies and personal stories of the protesters," Tabaku declared, describing this as part of a propaganda mechanism.
The DP MP also linked the protest to SPAK's investigations into public contracts and public-private partnerships, while criticizing the government's recent initiatives for strategic investors.
At the end of her reaction, Tabaku said that the protest was a confrontation between the majority of citizens and a system that, according to her, favors a small group of beneficiaries.
"This is a battle between the majority of Albanians who work honestly and a minority who are enriched by power," she wrote.
"And that Albania yesterday gave the prime minister a clear message: The game is over," Tabaku added.
Jorida Tabaku's full post:
Game Over! The game is over.
Yesterday, Albania poured onto the "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard, proving that the moral legitimacy of this majority and the arrogance of this government have entered their final phase.
An entire nation took to the streets to show the government that the system established during the years of socialist rule, with dictated laws, state capture, and privileges for a minority, has produced a poorer Albania and a weaker democracy. A system where the interests of a few are placed above the interests of the majority.
Last night was the clearest proof of what freedom can produce. A European Albania is not built only with documents and negotiations, but with free citizens who rise up to defend their country. In the square were Albanians of every persuasion, region, profession and age, united under the red and black flag and around a single demand: the removal of a system that has lost touch with its citizens and the undoing of the laws that have nurtured it.
Those who work and cannot move forward spoke. Young people who want to build their lives here and not leave spoke. Pensioners who have worked their entire lives and today count their money spoke. The middle class that pays more and more taxes, while privileges are distributed less and less, spoke.
Yesterday in the square there was not a party. Yesterday in the square there was Albania! Albania that is tired of corruption. Albania that is tired of arrogance. Albania that is tired of a system where laws are written for the minority and the majority pays the bill.
But as soon as the new day dawned, the old mechanism of power was set in motion again. Digital billboards called dacibao began displaying the names, biographies, and personal stories of the protesters. The guards and officials of the Palace of Dreams tried to discredit the citizens who had filled the square, as if a government steeped in corruption had the moral authority to judge others.
The same majority that spent public funds to manipulate perception and build its propaganda machine, today tries to sell as legitimacy what it has in fact lost long ago: the trust of citizens. The same one that is currently being investigated by SPAK for 50% of PPPs as corrupt.
Albanians showed yesterday that their dignity cannot be bought or intimidated. That the strength of united citizens is greater than any propaganda apparatus, greater than any outdated technique of intimidation, and greater than any attempt to stop change.
And while citizens protested, the government continued to govern for the same beneficiaries. Silently, it submitted for public consultation a draft law that waives fiscal obligations for strategic investors, the same ones who have benefited from privileges for years.
After poisoning the economy with the money of corruption and crime. After burdening Albanian families with taxes and the cost of living. After pushing hundreds of thousands of young people towards emigration. Today they seek to give new privileges to the same people who have benefited from this system.
That's why yesterday in the square was the forgotten Albania. The Albania that works, pays taxes and does not seek privileges. The Albania that has been neglected by a government that only cares about its clients.
This is a battle between the majority of Albanians who work honestly and a minority who are enriched by power.
Between ordinary Albania and privileged Albania.
Between the future and a system that is over.
And that Albania yesterday gave the prime minister a clear message:
The game is over.
