This Sunday morning found a group of protesters still in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
Yesterday's protest took on another dimension, as hundreds of protesters decided not to leave the boulevard in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
With national flags, banners and anti-government slogans, they spent the night on the boulevard, turning the protest into an unusual demonstration of resilience.
For the first time since the protests began, citizens decided to stay throughout Saturday evening and into Sunday morning in front of the Prime Minister's Office, declaring that the mobilization will continue until their demands are met.
On the boulevard, chants against the prime minister and the government were constantly heard, such as "Rama resigns", "Your end has come", "Rama in prison" and "You are surrounded" . One of the most repeated slogans during the evening was the message addressed to the head of government: "You are surrounded, you have no escape".
The protesters declared that they have no intention of withdrawing without their demands being met, while some of them warned that the protest will continue in the coming days.
The Albanian diaspora also played an important role in mobilizing this protest. Citizens from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Greece and other countries joined the protest yesterday in Tirana, marching side by side with protesters who have been part of this rally for weeks.
The high turnout and the decision of protesters to remain in the square even after the speeches were over was seen as a new development in the dynamics of the protest. As the hours passed, citizens continued to fill the boulevard, sending a clear message that their dissatisfaction with the government remains strong.
"The diaspora will take it to the streets," the protesters said.
Police forces monitored the situation throughout the night, and so far no incidents have been reported. Protesters have announced that they will continue their presence and activities in the center of Tirana in the coming hours and days.
We recall that just like every other day, the 21st citizens' march started from Skenderbeg Square, which is the first rally station to move towards the Prime Minister's Office on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, but unlike the previous 20 days, it stopped there, it did not spread out into the streets of the capital.
The Albanian diaspora came to the homeland through a convoy that traveled through European capitals, London, Paris, Berlin.
They have joined the call for a New Albania that demands the removal of the political class, the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Sali Berisha, the amendment of the law on protected areas, and the amendment of the law on strategic investments.
