After hours of protests and marching, dozens of citizens have decided to stand in front of the Prime Minister's Office. Some are sitting on the sidewalks, others have occupied benches, while the march around the government building continues without interruption.
The 21st anti-government protest is entering a new phase.
Even though over 5 hours have passed since the start of the rally and it is past midnight, some of the protesters seem to have no intention of leaving the boulevard.
Groups of citizens have formed in front of the Prime Minister's Office and have decided to stay put. Some are sitting on the sidewalks, others have occupied benches along the boulevard, while many protesters continue to stand in front of the government building.
Footage from the ground shows that the protest is not dispersing as usual. On the contrary, some participants are organizing to continue the sit-in through the night, symbolically surrounding the Prime Minister's Office until morning.
Meanwhile, hundreds of other citizens continue the march around the government building. The flow of protesters has not stopped, while the chants of "Rama resigns", "Your end has come", "Rama in prison" and "You are surrounded" are still heard on the boulevard.
Participants see the overnight stay as a form of civic resistance and a message that protest does not end with speeches or the passing of hours.
After one of the largest mobilizations in recent weeks, it seems that some of the protesters have made a clear decision: not to leave the square and remain in front of the Prime Minister's Office until the early hours of the morning.
If this happens, the 21st protest could mark not only the largest rally of this movement, but also the first night of an extended sit-in in front of government headquarters.
