Korça Police have launched investigations into the death of 49-year-old Gentiana Nano, for whom the deceased's family has raised allegations that doctors neglected healthcare.
An official announcement states that the services of the Korça Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office for evaluation, after the family members of citizen GN, 49 years old, who lost her life at the Korça Regional Hospital, on 16.11.2025, reported negligence during medical treatment.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further action.
Gentiana Nano was taken to the emergency room of Korça Hospital three days ago after experiencing breathing problems. After treatment at the emergency room, she returned to her apartment, where her problems continued.
The day before, her son and husband found the 49-year-old dead in her room.
Her son Erdiol Nano has leveled accusations against the doctors at Korça Hospital, saying that the latter have not shown the necessary care for his mother.
"Mom said I'm not feeling well, I feel tired and my heart rate is high. She wasn't feeling well and said we're going to the hospital. We took her, they did the tests, they told her she had anemia, they gave her some medication and we left. She kept saying she wasn't feeling well but the doctors didn't tell us anything and they took her out. How can you let a person leave when he says he's not feeling well?
"I want to know why the doctors didn't tell us what to do? Why didn't they leave him in the hospital but took him out? How did they let him leave the hospital in that condition? Today it happened to me, tomorrow it could happen to someone else," said the 49-year-old's son.
