Ten people were arrested as police dismantled a drug trafficking network operating between Italy and Spain.

The police carried out a major operation in midweek, as new details of the scheme and the roles of those arrested emerged. The organization was run by Albanians, but also included local and non-EU members.

Investigations show that the main part of the 'goods' was distributed through restaurants and bars, especially luxury ones.

Officers also seized a large quantity of narcotics. The operation, the result of an investigation that lasted nearly two years, dismantled a criminal network operating between Italy and Spain, with repercussions in the provinces of Varese and Milan.

Seven Albanians and one Italian were arrested in the provinces of Varese, Pavia, Monza and Aosta. A Romanian woman was also among those arrested.

The crackdown on the group of Albanians who trafficked drugs, details emerge:

During the checks, the Romanian woman living in the Alto Milanese area was seized with 1.25 kilograms of hashish divided into 13 blocks, 155 grams of cocaine, 36 grams of marijuana and 24 grams of heroin, as well as packaging materials.

Another arrest was made in Aosta, where an Albanian citizen was hiding 650 grams of cocaine, 100 grams of hashish, precision scales and 5,000 euros in cash in his home.

The investigation, launched approximately two years ago by the Busto Arsizio Police Station, follows investigations carried out following cocaine deals made by several dealers between Busto Garolfo and Busto Arsizio.

These investigations led to the identification of other accomplices located throughout the area and in close contact, each with vehicles registered in the names of the others, houses used as laboratories for drug preparation and several restaurants serving as key points for drug trafficking, including one in the province of Milan, managed by the arrested Romanian woman.

The transit of a significant shipment of cocaine from Spain to Italy, using a heavy Spanish vehicle, was also discovered.

They also arrested two members of the criminal gang, an Albanian and an Italian, who were found with 240 grams of cocaine divided into doses and a block of 504 grams of cocaine.
