The 25-year-old Italo-Albanian, David Stojanovic, who was arrested over the weekend by Italian police as a suspect in the murder of his friend and roommate at a B&B motel in Rome, Leonardo Fiorini, worked as a salesman in a store in the center of the capital.
The two lived in Isola Liri, in the province of Frosinone, before temporarily moving to the capital for seasonal work. He knew Leonardo Fiorini, 27, well, whose death is under investigation for murder and the Albanian is currently under house arrest, awaiting a plea hearing.
The crimes for which Stojanovic is accused date back to the evening of November 13, when a small amount of drugs was also found in the room.
The two friends were living in a B&B on Via di San Calepodio, in the Monteverde neighborhood of Rome. The Albanian has denied responsibility for the incident, saying it was an unfortunate accident.
They had moved to the capital for work, renting a room together. Investigators are investigating what happened last night, when Fiorini fell from a third-floor balcony and died. Carabinieri found drugs, specifically cannabis, in the apartment.
Neighbors raised the alarm about an ongoing quarrel, Carabinieri officers from the Compagnia di San Pietro arrived at the apartment and are investigating the incident, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office.
But what happened before Fiorini fell from the third floor? Why were the two friends arguing? What was the motive behind the incident?
These are just some of the questions that investigators will have to answer. Fiorini (pictured below) fell from a height of several meters and lost his life on the asphalt and unfortunately, nothing could be done to save his life. The theory is that the 25-year-old accused of murder may have pushed him towards the window, causing him to fall. When paramedics arrived, Leonardo was already dead.
The investigation also aims to determine the condition of the two friends at the time of the incident. Stojanovic appeared at the police station in an altered psychophysical state and underwent toxicological tests. Fiorini's body was also subjected to tests during the autopsy, Italian media reported.
After questioning by his defense attorney before the public prosecutor, the twenty-five-year-old was arrested on charges of murder and is currently under house arrest, pending further investigations.
