The Durrës Port Border Police have arrested a 48-year-old man who had hidden 240 bottles of wine in the truck he was driving, suspected of being intended for smuggling.
Police announce that he was captured at the entrance to Albania.
"As a result of detailed checks carried out on citizens and the vehicles with which they move when entering/exiting the country, the Border Police services of the PKK Port, Durrës arrested at the entrance to Albania, citizen A. Gj., 48 years old, resident of Durrës, after it was found that he had hidden 240 bottles of wine in the truck he was driving, suspected of smuggling," the Police statement said.
An investigation has also been launched into the case of another citizen who had hidden 15 cell phones and a significant amount of food in the van he was driving, suspected of being smuggled.
"The Border Police Services of the PKK Port, Durrës referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated in the absence of citizen YS, resident of Lushnja, after it was found upon exiting Albania that he had hidden 15 cell phones and a considerable amount of food products in the van he was driving, suspected of being smuggled."
The procedural materials were referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further action.
