The Criminal Court of Kosovo has upheld the prison sentence for those arrested in the latest SPAK operation against a criminal group suspected of trafficking around 4.3 tons of cocaine from South America to EU countries.
The operation led to the arrest of 7 people, including a former crime chief of Police Station No. 3 in Tirana, while 6 other people have been declared wanted.
SPAK announced that the operation was carried out in the regions of Shkodër, Elbasan, Vlorë and Tirana against persons under investigation for drug trafficking from Latin America to EU countries. According to the official announcement, this group has trafficked tons of cocaine in at least 7 different episodes, while its discovery was made by decoding the SKY EÇ and Encrochat platforms.
This operation was carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 177 of 2023 and in implementation of the decision of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, no. 70, dated 10.07.2025.
SPAK announced yesterday that the Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime conducted a wide-ranging operation in the regions of Shkodër, Elbasan, Vlora and Tirana against persons under investigation for drug trafficking from Latin America to EU countries.
This operation was carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 177 of 2023* and in implementation of the decision of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, no. 70, dated 10.07.2025.
Security measures of imprisonment by the Criminal Court of Kosovo were issued for the following citizens: Arjan Gjata, Vilson Roçi, Musa Gjikola, Akil Alushi
Jani Meçja, Selami Lushkaj and Erjon Dani.
Of the persons identified so far involved in this structured criminal group, 7 people have been arrested, while 6 others are wanted.
For the other 6 people, most of whom are abroad, it has not yet been possible to arrest them, national and international arrest warrants have been issued. The State Police, in cooperation with international partners and Europol, is working to locate and capture them.
From the investigations so far, there are reasonable suspicions based on evidence that the suspects, in function of the illegal activity in the field of trafficking of narcotics from South American countries to EU countries, with the aim of monetary gain and exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions, have communicated among themselves also through the encrypted platform application, "Sky EÇ", communications which have been administered by the French justice authorities, within the framework of mutual legal assistance in the criminal field.
