The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime has lifted the "house arrest" security measure for the former administrator of the Agricultural University of Tirana, Edmond Tërthorja .
The decision was made by a panel of judges composed of Rudina Palloj, Erjon Çela and Besmir Stroka, who accepted the request to replace the security measure with "compulsory appearance".
According to the court's decision, Tërthorja must appear before the judicial police officer at the National Bureau of Investigation, every first Monday of the month, at 10:00.
In February, SPAK filed a claim for the former administrator and other defendants involved in the case, requesting that Tërthorje be sentenced to 3 years in prison. Due to the summary trial, the sentence is reduced to 2 years in prison. The prosecution also requested the removal of the right to exercise public functions for 5 years.
Edmond Tërthorja and several former officials of the Agricultural University of Tirana are accused of abusing public procurement procedures. According to SPAK, they falsified documents with the aim of inflating the funds limit and favoring the winners in tenders.
