The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested four people after discovering and dismantling a cannabis plantation with over 1,000 plants on a farm in L'Olleria, in the province of Valencia.

The operation also led to the seizure of around 30 kilograms of an anesthetic substance, commonly used to mix cocaine.

The investigation began in February after agents noticed unusual activity at the suspected farm. According to authorities, two people who regularly traveled in rented vehicles from northern Spain were frequently entering and leaving the property, raising suspicions among investigators.

After this, the Civil Guard placed the farm under surveillance. During the monitoring, agents noticed numerous bags and sacks outside that were suspected of containing plant debris, soil, and materials related to cannabis cultivation.

The investigation was also supported by the inspection service of the electricity company, which confirmed that there were illegal connections and electricity theft on the farm. Based on this evidence, two Albanian citizens were arrested on March 24.

During the search of the property, the Civil Guard discovered 1,008 cannabis plants in the flowering stage, as well as over 29 kilograms of an anesthetic substance often used to mix cocaine. Authorities also seized numerous equipment for intensive cultivation, including lamps, air conditioners, irrigation systems and fans.

A large double-edged knife and an air rifle were also found on the farm, along with other equipment used for illegal activity.

The second phase of the operation took place on April 23, when two more people were arrested in L'Olleria, both of Spanish nationality. According to the Civil Guard, they had a logistical role in the group, providing housing, signing rental contracts under fictitious identities and making monthly cash payments to operate the activity.

The four arrested, three men and a woman aged between 31 and 59, with Albanian and Spanish citizenship, are accused of participating in a criminal organization, drug cultivation and production, as well as electricity fraud.

After appearing before the court, two of the arrested were remanded in custody. The investigation was conducted by the Ontinyent investigative unit, while the file was submitted to the competent court in the area.
