The driver of the vehicle that fatally hit an elderly person and then fled the scene on the Peqin-Rrogozhina road has been arrested.
The victim of yesterday's accident was the citizen with the initials MK, 82 years old.
"As a result of the checks carried out with the aim of capturing and arresting the perpetrator of the road accident that occurred last night, on the "Peqin - Rrogozhinë" axis, where as a result of a collision with a vehicle, citizen MK, 82 years old, lost her life, road traffic specialists, a few hours after the accident and leaving the scene, located the driver of the vehicle that hit the 82-year-old, citizen DG, 58 years old, resident of Kavaja.
At the conclusion of the procedural actions, the 58-year-old was arrested in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offenses of "Violation of traffic rules", resulting in death, and "Leaving the scene of an accident".
"The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Durrës Police Station referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated in the absence of the following citizens:
-LG and EG, residents of Tirana, as they are suspected of not having obeyed the order of the Police officers to present their identification documents during a girls' football match;
-QB, resident of Durrës, as he is suspected of having exercised violence against his wife.
•Around 00:55, the vehicle of citizen KT, which was parked in neighborhood no. 6, was partially burned. The investigation group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is continuing the investigation to determine and document the cause of the fire.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further action," the police announced.
