New details have come to light from the arrest of former soldier Altin Celami, who ended up in police custody two days ago.
The former soldier had been under police surveillance for several weeks while he had been using a taxi for a long time in order to camouflage himself to supply weapons to criminal groups.
Altin Celami, long ago, chose to put the lessons he learned in the army into the service of crime.
In his testimony, Celami stated that the weapons were his and accepted the charges brought by the police, although he did not provide further details.
Police sources indicate that weapons were sold to criminal groups in Fresk and Kamëz, and it was not the first time such a route had been taken.
The police had documented several such cases, at least 10 cases. It is also known that some of the pistols came from Kosovo and were weapons that were modified in the apartment, so that they could be used only once and then melted down or thrown away.
This was a method that Çelami used to get criminal groups to buy weapons back from him, as this type of weapon was difficult to trace.
Altin Celami was not an unknown name to the police, as after a police operation in 2022, 15 people fell into the hands of the Durrës police, a criminal group that dealt with contract killings.
