Returned to Italy to meet family, Albanian with criminal record re-arrested

An Albanian man has been arrested in Cremona, Italy, after entering the country illegally. The young man had been deported from the country after being caught without documents in a neighboring country.

Deported since 2023 and subject to a restraining order, he was detained by the State Police after he evaded border controls and returned to the city to stay with a relative.

The court had also imposed a ban on the Albanian from re-entering the country.

He was escorted to the border in 2023 by the Immigration Office of the Cremona Police Headquarters, in accordance with a judicial deportation order. Despite a 10-year re-entry ban, he decided to return to Italy, managing to evade border controls and reach the Lombardy region again, where he went to stay with a relative.

The arrested man had several criminal records for property crimes and illegal immigration. He also had a pending arrest warrant, which would be enforced if he returned to Italy.

After being identified by officers, he was immediately arrested and taken to the Cremona prison, where he was made available to the authorities for the abbreviated court hearing, held on the morning of Saturday, November 8.
