A 42-year-old man has been arrested by the Tepelena police after he fired a Kalashnikov into the air as a threat to a 48-year-old man.
The incident, fortunately without consequences, was recorded on November 2nd after a conflict between the two in the village of Peshtan.
The firearm was found in a wooded area of this village.
Meanwhile, during a search of the 48-year-old's apartment, the police found and seized 1 shotgun and 1 necklace with hunting cartridges, which he possessed without permission.
"As a result of the intensification of searches, the services of the Tepelena Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Kelcyrë Police Station and the services of the Gjirokastër DVP, based on information obtained in the operational route regarding the location of a wanted citizen, in the village of Peshtan, Kelcyrë, organized the work to capture him.
As part of the police operation codenamed "Coordination", it was possible to locate, capture and arrest citizen ET, 42 years old, resident of the village of Peshtan.
This citizen was declared wanted after on 02.11.2025, after a conflict for weak motives, he fired a gun in the air to threaten citizen VM, 48 years old, resident of the village of Peshtan.
During the operation, the Police services, during a search in a wooded area of the village of Peshtan, found and seized the firearm with which this citizen is suspected of having threatened the 48-year-old, as well as a quantity of combat ammunition, which the 42-year-old had hidden immediately after the incident.
Following the operation, during the search of citizen VM's apartment, the Police services found and seized 1 hunting gun and 1 necklace with hunting cartridges, which he possessed without permission.
"The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action," the police announced.
