A 20-year-old man identified as Erjon Mejdani has been arrested by police, accused of defrauding citizens by taking amounts of money ranging from 500 to 1,000 euros.

Police explain that the 20-year-old opened fake profiles on a social network for a period of about 2 weeks and, while communicating with various citizens, obtained personal photos from them.

Then, through deception and blackmail, he demanded a monetary sum of between 500 and 1,000 euros in exchange for not making personal photos public.

Specifically, on 05.12.2025 and 06.12.2025, this citizen repeatedly received the amount of 750 euros from a 36-year-old man.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested after defrauding various citizens by demanding between 500 and 1,000 euros to not publish their personal photos on social networks.

2 cases of fraud committed by this citizen are documented.

The Cybercrime Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Special Operational Force of the Tirana Police Department, in continuation of the work to crack down on illegalities in the cyber field, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Online Threat".

As a result of the operation, citizen EM, 20 years old, resident of Tirana, was arrested.

The investigation revealed that this citizen, for a period of about 2 weeks, opened fake profiles on a social network and, while communicating with various citizens, obtained personal photos from them. Then, through fraud and blackmail, he demanded a monetary amount of 500 to 1,000 euros, in exchange for not making the personal photos public.

Specifically, on 05.12.2025 and 06.12.2025, this citizen repeatedly received the amount of 750 euros from a 36-year-old man.

"The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
