"I wanted to do it, I saved my children." This is what the suspected perpetrator of the stabbing murder of his 45-year-old Albanian ex-wife, Gentiana Hudhra, in Tolento, Italy, declared after his arrest.
The serious crime was committed by the 55-year-old in the middle of the city, where dozens of passersby were witnesses.
According to Italian media reports, the perpetrator, Nikollaq Hudhra, first stabbed his ex-wife, then kicked her as she fell to the ground, seriously injured, and finally sat on a nearby bench, watching her as she died.
The 45-year-old Albanian woman was on her way to work when she was attacked by her ex-husband, with whom she had two adult children.
Italian media write that police investigations are now focused on the history of the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator, as the possibility cannot be ruled out that the 45-year-old woman was previously raped or threatened by the perpetrator, although verifications have not yielded any complaints from her.
