Forgery laboratory in the middle of Tirana, father and son arrested; the amount

A document forgery lab has been discovered in Tirana. It is learned that a father and son have been arrested, both involved in a criminal scheme aimed at illegally crossing the border with forged documents.

The police operation, codenamed "Identity", led to the discovery of an environment adapted as a laboratory for the production of passports and other suspected forged documents.

Ylli Brahimaj, 65 years old, currently under the security measure "house arrest" issued by SPAK, and his son, Pjerin Brahimaj, 45 years old, were arrested. Meanwhile, their accomplice, citizen Sh. L., 62 years old, was also criminally prosecuted.

According to investigations conducted for seven months, counterfeit passports for foreign citizenship were sold at prices ranging from 15 to 20 thousand euros, with final destinations being European Union countries or the USA.

Authorities are continuing investigations to identify other people involved in this counterfeiting network.

"The police operation codenamed "Identity" is being finalized by the Illicit Trafficking Investigation Section, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office."

An environment adapted as a laboratory for the forgery of various documents with the aim of providing assistance for illegal border crossing is discovered. Suspected forged documents and other illegal items used for the exercise of this criminal activity are seized.

Two citizens (father and son) are arrested, one of them currently under house arrest, issued by SPAK, as members of a criminal group for the same activity. Their accomplice is being prosecuted.

The Illicit Trafficking Investigation Section, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, as a result of a 7-month investigation pursued with special methods, successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "Identity".

As a result, citizens Ylli Brahimaj, 65 years old, currently under house arrest, issued by SPAK, and Pjerin Brahimaj, 45 years old (father and son), were arrested, and criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen Sh. L., 62 years old, who is suspected of being an accomplice of the two arrested.

During the search of the apartment, the Police discovered a secret room, converted into a laboratory for the production and forgery of various documents and passports.

Investigations have revealed that the production of a forged passport with foreign citizenship amounted to between 15,000 and 20,000 euros. These passports were allegedly used for illegal passage to European Union countries or the USA.

Work is underway to identify other people involved in this activity.

"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
