An investigative file obtained by "Ora News" shows a not optimistic situation in the penitentiary system of prisons in Albania, where unauthorized items (telephones) are brought into the interior of prisons and from there, high-risk individuals continue to give orders and direct the criminal activity of the group.
The file speaks of increased activity by Laert Haxhiu's group, which, although isolated in the high-security prison in Drenova, Korça, has been intercepted by the Prisons' operational team, which found dozens of phone calls made by Haxhiu.
The investigative material highlights that the three main members of Laert Haxhi's group sentenced to life imprisonment, Anterio Kaloshi, Laert Haxhiu and Anterio Kaloshi, are concentrated in sector "A" of the Drenova prison, serving their life sentences in rooms adjacent to each other with No. 4, 5 and 6.
It is in these rooms that other convicts are held, such as Pogradec resident Xhensi Lipo, sentenced to 19 years in prison for the murder of Erjon Ibi, and Vladimir Kurti, sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Agim Buci.
During the search of 3 rooms, the operational team found and seized 4 "Iphone" and "Samsung" phones, "AWEI" and "IPODS" headphones.
Up to this stage of the investigation, it remains unclear who the person is who supplied Laert Haxhiu's group with the telephone equipment.
The prosecution, which is pursuing the case, is conducting a series of investigative actions in the hope of finding the person who enabled the introduction of telephone items, precisely in cells No. 4, 5, and 6, where the 4 people are serving life sentences.
Meanwhile, the 4 phones have been examined and will also be sent for computer expertise in the coming days.
Contrary to what some media have reported that Laert Haxhiu's phone was taken by SPAK for examination, in fact it is quite the opposite as Haxhiu's "Iphone" and 3 other cell phones were seized by the Korça prosecution and this evidence is currently being administered on behalf of this prosecution.
For two days now, this prosecutor's office has registered a criminal file on the charge of "Bringing unauthorized items into the interior of the prison", where the suspects are the convicts Laert Haxhiu, Anterio Kaloshi, Orgest Bilbili, Vladimir Kurti and Xhensi Lipo.
According to the investigative file, the search was carried out on the morning of June 29, 2025, where the operational forces of the Police of the General Directorate of Prisons conducted a "scan" of 3 rooms.
"Ora News" has learned that the search was carried out in the premises of Sector 2, Building "A", first floor, in rooms No. 4, 5 and 6, as in room No. 4, convicts Anterio Kaloshi and Orgest Bilbili reside.
A pair of black "AWEI" branded headphones with a case and a white charging plug were found in this room.
Also on the outside between the windows of rooms No. 4 and No. 5, 3 mobile phones were found, 2 "Iphone" brand in good condition and one "Samsung" brand turned on but damaged with a broken screen.
The convicts threw their phones from the first-floor windows into the prison yard after they saw the operational team enter the sector where they were serving their sentence.
To shed light on this matter, the prison police have seized video footage from June 29, 2025, footage that monitors sector 2, 1st floor, Building "A" and the exterior of the windows of Building "A", in order to verify who threw the 3 phones from the window of room No. 4 and room No. 5.
Meanwhile, in room No. 6, where the convict Laert Haxhiu is serving his sentence, a charger, a black "Iphone", a charger and a pair of white "Ipods" headphones were found on the bed.
Immediately after this finding, the Directorate of the High Security Prison in Drenova, Korça, on June 29th made the decision to lock Laert Haxhiu in solitary confinement.
Meanwhile, the criminal cases of Laert Haxhiu, Vladimir Kurti, Anterio Kaloshi, Orgest Bilbili and Xhensi Lipo have been withdrawn and become part of the investigative file.
