After the trial of the merits, the special judge has drawn lots for the panel that will try Laert Haxhina, Kristi Bixheku and Artan Tafani on charges of "Destruction of property with explosives", "Structured criminal group", "Premeditated murder, committed for interest", "Murder for blood feud", "Armed robbery" and "Providing conditions and means to commit murder".
Journalist Anila Hoxha reports that the draw has assigned judge Rudina Palloj to judge the charges brought by SPAK against the life-sentenced Haxhiu.
Haxhiu is known for a series of crimes committed in the city of Lushnja, where he is accused of murdering several people.
He is suspected of being the main assassin of the September 11, 2017 incident in Lushnja, where two people, Jurgea Hoxhës and Samir Latifi, were killed. Laert Haxhiu is also accused of the murder of Gerti Sala, also known as "Iriqi", a member of the Lushnja gang in 2009.
Meanwhile, Haxhiu is suspected of being the main perpetrator of the September 25, 2016, gunshot wound to Saimo Xheliu, where in the same year he also attempted to execute Aldo Bare's nephew, Xhuljo Shkurti, in the center of Lushnja.
