Street protests, revolt and abandonment in the SP; is this the beginning of the
Edi Rama

Politics has an unwritten rule: the endings are not announced when they happen. They begin much earlier, at the moment when loyalty begins to waver, when doubts replace conviction, and when the fear of leaving is replaced by the courage to do so...

In the streets of Tirana, thousands of Albanians have been marching for almost 15 days like a river that has burst its banks. “Edi Rama, resign!” is the call that resounds every day. It is not just a protest; it is a belated cry of a part of society that feels disappointed, forgotten and tired of promises that, according to it, have vanished like smoke.

And as if that weren't enough, within the walls of the Socialist Party, where Rama has exercised complete control for more than a decade, signs of a silent but increasingly visible discontent are emerging.

Today, MP Marjana Koçeku left the SP parliamentary group. A single departure, at first glance, but which could be the first drop of political hemorrhage. A small crack that, if it widens, could set in motion processes that are difficult to stop. Within the SP, dissatisfaction has been simmering for a long time. Elisa Spiropali, Erion Braçe and other figures have repeatedly expressed reservations about the way the party and government are run: with centralized decision-making, with little room for dissent and with a model that risks making the political structure more fragile than it appears from the outside.

Politics rarely collapses with a single blow. More often, the end begins with a small crack, with a departure that at first seems insignificant, with a voice that decides to no longer walk at the same pace as the majority. The question that arises today is whether the departure of Marjana Koçek from the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party is simply an ordinary political episode or the first signal of a larger process that could shake Edi Rama's power.

Political history, not only in Albania but also in other countries, has shown that strong governments do not fall when the opposition shouts the loudest. They begin to weaken when they lose the trust of their people. When important figures within the party begin to challenge the authority of the leader and step out of line.

Of course, Albania is not at that point yet. The Socialist Party continues to have a parliamentary majority and Edi Rama remains the most powerful politician in the country. But power is not measured by numbers alone. It is also measured by the perception of strength. And when the idea begins to emerge that someone can leave without political consequences, then others begin to consider the same path.

Therefore, Rama’s biggest challenge today may not come from the opposition on the streets. It may come from within the corridors of the party he has dominated for more than a decade. If silent grievances turn into concrete actions, then the departure of a female MP may turn out to be just the first chapter of a much larger story.

Maybe it's still too early to talk about the end of Rama. But politics has an unwritten rule: the end is not announced when it happens. It begins much earlier, at the moment when loyalty begins to waver, when doubts replace conviction and when the fear of leaving is replaced by courage./ Pamphlet
