Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has called for a halt to the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon, demanding an end to attacks between Hezbollah and Israel.
During a public statement, the Italian chief diplomat stressed that it is necessary to restore calm to the region and avoid military actions that endanger further stability.
"We must also manage to stop the fighting in Lebanon, so that Hezbollah no longer attacks Israel and Israel no longer bombs Beirut," Tajani declared.
He stressed that Italy will continue to play its role through diplomatic channels, with the aim of contributing to reducing tensions and maintaining stability in the Middle East.
"We will continue to do our part at the diplomatic level. We are also ready to guarantee a presence in Lebanon to help strengthen and organize the country's armed forces ," the Italian minister said.
According to Tajani, the Lebanese armed forces must have full control over the entire territory of the country. He stressed that it is unacceptable for parts of Lebanese territory to remain outside state authority and under Hezbollah control.
The Italian minister's statements come at a time when international concerns about the escalation of the conflict in the region continue to grow, while diplomacy is seeking ways to avoid a wider confrontation.
