"Let the oil flow," Trump: Ships are returning to the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has declared that ships have begun moving again through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important shipping corridors, which faced severe restrictions and tensions after the start of the conflict with Iran.

Through a public response, Trump said that many of the vessels passing through the strait are loaded with oil, ensuring that the sea route is now safe.

"The ships are starting to move," Trump declared, adding that many of them "are loaded with oil" and that the shipping lane is "completely safe and intact."

A day earlier, the US president had called on shipping companies to resume activity, declaring: "Start the engines and let the oil flow," while signaling the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump then announced that the strategic shipping route is expected to be officially opened on Friday, the day when, according to him, the relevant agreement will also be signed.

He also announced that the US blockade of Iranian ports would be lifted, while emphasizing that the Strait of Hormuz would be “forever free.”  “It will be forever free,” Trump told the New York Times.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important arteries for global energy trade. Before the conflict broke out, more than 100 ships a day passed through the sea route on average, transporting oil and gas to international markets.
