The departure of MP Marjana Koçeku from the Socialist Party's logo has 'stunned' the Socialists. After this decision, Koçeku turned off the phone to the Socialist MPs, choosing not to give them any comment on this move of hers.
Sources from the SP parliamentary group tell Top Channel that several MPs have attempted to contact Koçeku to learn more about her decision, but the MP's phone has been turned off. This situation has increased uncertainty within the majority regarding the reasons that led the MP to break away from the Socialist Party.
While the Socialists were trying to get an explanation from their colleague, Koçeku chose to communicate through social media. She published a photo of a flamingo on Facebook and Instagram, a post that was interpreted as an indirect message after her departure from the SP.
The Shkodra MP's decision seems to have come as a surprise even to the leaders of the parliamentary group. It is learned that Koçek has not officially communicated her departure to the leader of the socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla.
During the group's meeting held on Monday, Balla stated that "we will talk about this issue at a later time."
The announcement of her departure was made yesterday evening through a post on social media, where Koçeku wrote that she would continue her political journey as an independent MP, emphasizing that her ideals and values remain unchanged.
The MP's move has sparked widespread reactions in politics and on social media. Some commentators have called on her to hand over her mandate, arguing that it was won under the banner of the Socialist Party, while others have supported her decision to act independently.
Marjana Koçeku, otherwise known as "Neomalesorja", was one of the new figures promoted by the Socialist Party in the 2025 parliamentary elections and was elected MP in the Shkodra district.
