Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Chanel, the bags of French footballers go viral

With the NBA Finals ending with the New York Knicks' 4-1 triumph over the San Antonio Spurs, winning the championship title after 53 years, and with the simultaneous start of the World Cup, this summer is shaping up to be one of the most intense sports periods in recent years.

However, in addition to events on the playing fields, attention is also being focused on athletes' appearances outside of sports venues, where sports and fashion are increasingly intertwined.

The relationship between sports and the fashion industry has reached a new level. The most famous athletes are no longer just figures who inspire fans with their talent, but also names sought after by the most prestigious fashion houses in the world, participating in advertising campaigns, fashion shows and important international events.

A typical example is the French national team, which, upon arriving in the United States for the World Cup, attracted attention not only for its footballing quality, but also for its fashion choices. According to Vogue magazine, the French players stood out for the luxurious accessories and luggage they had chosen.

Barcelona defender Jules Koundé showed up with a Louis Vuitton duffel bag. Meanwhile, Ballon d'Or winner and two-time Champions League winner with Paris Saint-Germain, Ousmane Dembélé, opted for a Hermès HAC leather bag, an iconic model with a history dating back to 1892 and originally designed to carry riding equipment.

Manchester City star Rayan Cherki also appeared in the same vein, wearing a smaller version of the beige HAC model. Equally special was Marcus Thuram, who carried a green Chanel bag from the brand's collaboration with Pharrell Williams in 2019. This model is considered a collector's item and is valued at around $15,000 on the resale market.

What stood out the most was the fact that French footballers chose to represent their country through iconic French brands. If football remains one of France's most important cultural exports, the luxury industry continues to be one of its most powerful symbols on the international stage.

Les Bleus' performances show that modern football is no longer confined to the lines of the pitch. It is increasingly extending into the world of fashion, where athletes are becoming global influencers and trendsetters.
