The Israeli military has announced that it has killed a senior Hezbollah commander during an airstrike carried out in southern Lebanon.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the target of the attack carried out on Friday in an area south of the Litani River was, who was considered one of the most experienced figures in the Lebanese Shiite organization.
In its statement, the IDF described Dakdouk as “a source of knowledge with extensive operational experience,” adding that he had played a significant role in developing and coordinating military operations against Israel.
"Over the past few years, he played a central role in advancing terrorist attacks and combat operations against Israel and IDF soldiers," the Israeli army said in a statement.
Israel's ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, also reacted to this development, stating that Dakdouk had also been involved in attacks against American forces.
"He was personally responsible for a terrorist attack in 2007 targeting American troops. He will no longer terrorize American troops, nor the people of Israel and Lebanon," Leiter wrote.
So far there has been no official reaction from Hezbollah regarding the Israeli military's claims about the killing of Dakdouk.
